The school arranges a drop in session each term to give parents the opportunity to come into classrooms and view the children’s work and discuss this with the relevant teachers on an informal basis. These sessions may be either during the school day or once the children have finished their lessons. Additionally, there will be a curriculum afternoon each term for parents.
In addition, in the first part of Spring Term, teachers will prepare a short mid-year report for each pupil in Literacy and Numeracy, which highlights pupil’s progress and areas for improvement. The school will give parents an opportunity to discuss these further – either by a parent/teacher appointment or a phone call.
Towards the end of the Summer Term, all class teachers prepare a written report on pupil’s annual progress in all subjects. This report is sent to parents and they are invited to discuss it with the relevant teacher if they have any concerns.
Aside from these more formal opportunities to meet with the staff, we would extend an open invitation to all parents if they wish to discuss problems or inform the head teacher and teachers of changes in the family circumstances, which may effect their child’s education – either by a parent/teacher appointment or a phone call. The head teacher and teachers are usually available on Mondays between 3.30 and 4.00 p.m. Please contact the school office to arrange a suitable appointment.
Parents of children in years 2 and 6 will be invited to the school during the spring term to discuss the arrangements for their children’s SATs tests, which take place early in the summer term.
The school also holds an evening meeting for parents of new children starting at the school in September each year, and this is held during the summer term.
